Before you gift two concert tickets: make sure the seats are sold together, that the tickets can reach the person you give them to, that the venue accepts resold tickets, and that you compare the full price with fees. A practical checklist with sources.

1. Buy the two seats in one listing
Two tickets bought one at a time can end up rows apart. Buy both in a single listing that sells exactly two together, and check that the section and row are the same for both seats. If the listing does not say the seats are next to each other, ask the seller before you pay.
For concerts in the US and Canada in the next three weeks, our two-tickets page lists the observed price for two tickets together at each date, measured on one marketplace, before fees.
2. Make sure the tickets can reach the person you give them to
- Transfer. Most official tickets are mobile and move through the ticketing app. On Ticketmaster you open the order and select Transfer to see whether it is eligible; the person receiving them accepts by signing in, or creating an account, with the same email the tickets were sent to. Not every order can be transferred, so check before you plan the gift around it.
- Named tickets. Some tours print the buyer's name on the ticket and check ID at the door. For BTS in Santiago in 2026, the ticketing terms say everyone entering must carry their ticket and their national ID card or passport. A ticket in your name is not a gift you can hand over unless the organizer allows a name change.
- Delivery date. Check when the tickets will be delivered. On resale it can be days before the event, not right after you pay. A card with the date, the venue and the section works as the gift until then.
3. Check the venue accepts resold tickets
Some venues and artists refuse resold tickets at the gate or allow resale only through their official channel. Our registry of entry rules quotes each operator's own words and is re-checked every night. Examples on file today:
- The Kallang, Singapore (National Stadium and Singapore Indoor Stadium): resold tickets will not be honoured and holders will be turned away.
- Oasis Live '27: resale only at the price originally paid, through Ticketmaster and Twickets.
- Tame Impala at The O2, London: resale tickets bought anywhere other than The O2 or AXS may not be valid.
- Australia: New South Wales, Stadiums Queensland venues and Western Australia cap resale at 10% above the original price.
If the date you want is on the list, buy through the official channel. A cheaper resale ticket is no gift if the venue turns it away.
4. Compare the full price, not the headline
In the United States, the FTC Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees has applied to live-event tickets since May 12, 2025. Sellers that show a price must show the total with mandatory fees. Only government charges, shipping charges and optional add-ons can be left out of that total. Compare the final amount for two tickets at checkout, with taxes and delivery, between sellers. Rules differ outside the US, so check the final total there too.
5. Decide when to buy
We record the lowest listed price for two seats together every day for the shows we follow. As of 27 October 2026, across 54 completed shows, that price fell in the final week before the show in 34, rose in 14 and stayed flat in 6. The median change was a 12.5% drop. See the live numbers on our price tracker.
This is a record of what happened, not a prediction. For a gift with a fixed date, a seat that is still there matters more than a lower price that might come. If waiting makes you nervous, buy early.
6. Know what happens if something goes wrong
Keep the order confirmation and read the seller's guarantee before paying: what happens if the event is cancelled or moved, and what happens if the person you gave the tickets to is refused entry. One marketplace answered us in writing. Hellotickets said that if a buyer is refused entry, it first tries to provide replacement tickets; if none are available, it refunds 100% of the order and offers compensation on top. That answer is published in our registry.
